HAMDEN, Conn. – The Bobcats came back from a five-run deficit to defeat the NJIT Highlanders by a final score of 12-7 on Friday afternoon in Hamden.

The Bobcats will improve to 10-20 on the season, while the Highlanders will fall to 11-18 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
NJIT struck first in the top half of the first inning, bringing home two runs. They opened the game on a sacrifice fly and brought home their second run on an RBI infield single.

The Highlanders scored another run in the top of the second inning as a balk allowed runners to advance a base and bring the runner home.

In the top of the third inning, NJIT made it a 5-0 game as they blasted a two-run homer to left field. In the bottom half of the inning, Dominick Proctor launched his first homer as a Bobcat to bring QU within four.

NJIT got the run back in the fifth inning as they hit their second home run of the game, this one being hit to left center. In the bottom half, Dominick Proctor delivered again, this time with an RBI double to left center.

The Bobcats made it a three-run game when Gabe Wright sent a line drive to left field for a double to score CJ Willis from second.

The Quinnipiac offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a two-run lead. Keegan O'Connor got the scoring started with a two-run triple. Christian Smith stepped in as the next batter and singled up the middle to tie the game at 6.

CJ Willis stepped up and hit a triple down the right field line to score Smith from first and take the lead. Gabe Wright singled up the middle to take a two-run lead at the end of the seventh inning.

Quinnipiac's bats stayed hot in the eighth inning as they brought home four more runs to break the game open. Jared Zimbardo got the scoring started in the inning as he doubled down the right field line to score Dominick Proctor from second. With the bases loaded, Christian Smith delivered a two-run single up the middle to give the Bobcats an 11-6 lead. Gabe Wright capped off the scoring in the inning as he beat out an infield single to score CJ Willis from third.

NJIT got a run back in the ninth from an RBI single to right field, but Sam Favieri shut the door to give the Bobcats a 12-7 comeback win.
