Bobcats Drop Series Finale To Delaware

NEWARK, Delaware – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell in the season finale to the Delaware Blue Hens, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats will go to 4-8 to start the 2024 season, while Delaware will go to 8-6 on the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Delaware got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning as they launched a two-run homer to give them an early 2-0 lead.
Quinnipiac would bounce back in the top of the third, scoring three runs to take the lead. Matt DeRose scored on an RBI fielder's choice to give Quinnipiac their first run. Gabe Wright and Dominick Proctor both drew bases loaded walks to score two runs as Quinnipiac took a 3-2 lead.
The Blue Hens would tie the game in the bottom half of the third inning on a single with two outs in the inning. Delaware would add another run in fourth on a two-out RBI double to retake the lead, 4-3.
With the bases loaded in the fifth, the Blue Hens scored on a balk. The Blue Hens would score another run in the inning from an RBI ground out to extend their lead to three.
In the top of the sixth inning, CJ Willis blasted a three-run home run that snuck inside the left field foul pole to tie the game at six.
Delaware took the lead back in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-out RBI single to right field.
