Bobcats Start 4-0 in MAAC With Victory Over Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball earned a second-weekend MAAC sweep after downing conference foe Siena in four sets at the UHY Center on Sunday afternoon.
Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with 17 kills and 12 digs for a double-double, while Yagmur Gunes added 13 kills, six digs and three service aces. Damla Gunes contributed 42 assists and six digs in the victory.
With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 8-5 overall on the season and 4-0 in MAAC play, while Siena fell to 1-13 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-22, Quinnipiac)
The two sides traded points in the early part of the first set, with Quinnipiac holding a 14-11 advantage before the media timeout. Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac went on a swift 3-0 run to push its lead to 17-11. However, Siena battled back to trim Quinnipiac's lead to 21-20, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout.
Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac closed the set by taking four of the next six points to take the set, 25-22.
SET TWO (25-16)
The Bobcats maintained momentum, jumping out to an 8-4 lead before Siena burned a timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats slowly built their lead to 18-11 before Siena burned the final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac never looked back in the set, eventually taking the frame, 25-16.
SET THREE (19-25)
The two sides exchanged points before Siena crept ahead 12-7, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. The Saints pushed their lead to as much as 20-11 before taking the set, 25-19.
SET FOUR (25-13)
The Bobcats found their groove again in the fourth set, as the Bobcats jumped out to a 9-4 lead to force a Siena timeout. Out of the break, QU extended the lead 20-9 before coasting to a 25-13 set win and 3-1 match victory.
NOTES:
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 30, when the Bobcats travel to take on MAAC foe Iona at 1 p.m.
