Bobcats Dominate in Weekend Finale Against Hartford

With the win, the Bobcats record improved to 21-24, while the Hawks fell to 4-33 on the 2023 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartford got things started in the top of the first inning, scoring a run on a single to center field. Sean Swenson escaped trouble, retiring the next three batters to limit the damage to just one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Braydon Seaburg reached first base on an error by the first baseman which allowed Keegan O'Connor to score from second. After a single by Sean Swenson that got Seaburg to third, a wild pitch allowed Seaburg to score to make it a 2-1 Bobcats lead. After the Bobcats loaded the bases, Jared Zimbardo sent the ball to the Quinnipiac Rugby Field for a grand slam to extend the lead to five. Anthony Donofrio got on with a double to center field and came around after stealing third base and a throwing error by the catcher allowing him to cross the plate. With two outs in the inning, Keegan O'Connor launched a home run over the left center field fence to make it an 8-1 Bobcats lead.
After Hartford scratched across two runs in the top of the third, the Bobcats came right back. McGwire Tuffy knocked in a run on a RBI single with the infield in. With Matt Tesoriero on third and Tuffy on first, a wild pitch allowed the runners to move up and Tesoriero crossed the plate with the Bobcats' 10th run of the game. Sebastian Mueller stepped up to the plate with a runner on and left the building with a two-run home run to left center field to extend the lead to 12-3.

The Bobcats added a run in the fifth inning via an RBI single to right field from Anthony Donofrio to score McGwire Tuffy from second base and made it a 13-3 lead for Quinnipiac.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Sebastian Mueller singled through the left side with the bases loaded to bring home Tuffy. James Marino came in as a pinch hitter and drew a bases loaded walk to make it a 15-3 lead for the Bobcats. As a pinch hitter, Christian Smith drove the ball into the right center field gap to bring home two more runs in the inning. A Seaburg single brought home Marino with Quinnipiac's 18th run of the contest. The Bobcats would bring home two more runs in the inning to stretch the lead to 20-3.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Tim Blaisdell came in relief pitching five innings allowing just two runs, while striking out six.
- Keegan O'Connor stays hot going 2-for-4 with a solo home run to push his season home run total to 11.
- O'Connor hit a home run in every game of the Hartford series and hit 12-for-19 (.632) with 10 RBIs.
- Jared Zimbardo capped off his day going 2-for-5 with a grand slam and a double.
- Sebastian Mueller continued his hot streak going 3-for-6 at the plate with a home run and three runs batted in.
- Christian Smith came off the bench going 2-for-2 with two doubles and driving in two runs.
