MAAC Semifinals Features In-State Rivalry Friday

HAMDEN, Conn. — For the second time this season, MAAC in-state rivals collide, but this time with a berth in the MAAC Championship on the line as the fourth-seeded Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team meets top seeded Fairfield on Friday afternoon.

The Bobcats earned their first trip to MAAC Championship weekend with a 10-4 victory over Canisius in Hamden on Sunday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT (4/30/23)

The Bobcats earned their first ever MAAC tournament win on Sunday afternoon, scoring the first five goals en route to a 10-4 victory over Canisius.
Emily Feeney led the attack with a four-point day, scoring three goals and dishing an assist. Desiree Kleberg, Maddie Deegan and Abby Wise all added multi-goal outings.
On the defensive end, five different Bobcats recorded multi-CT performances and three players had three GBs each. Kat Henselder made nine saves on 13 shots on goal.

LAST TIME vs. FAIRFIELD (4/5/23)

The teams split the first six goals of the day, but Fairfield would score six of the last seven en route to a 9-4 victory over the Bobcats in Fairfield.
Mia Delmond scored a pair of goals on three shots, but Quinnipiac could not overcome 25 turnovers on the day.

ABOUT THE STAGS

Fairfield enters the MAAC postseason with its 17th consecutive semifinal appearance on Friday and is looking for its fifth consecutive conference title.
They won 12 games, tied for the most in the league and a league-best seven conference games.
The Stags feature the league's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, as senior Olivia Doody and Caroline Mangan led the way for the regular season champs.

AWARDS SEASON

The Bobcats had four players selected to All-Conference teams, earning a pair of major individual awards as announced by the league on Friday afternoon.
First-year Mia Delmond and senior Kat Henselder were selected as the league's Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively.
Quinnipiac earned three, Second Team All-Conference selections, with Delmond joined by Sophie Spencer and Melissa Murphy.
