NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team completed a three-game weekend sweep over Saint Peter's, picking up a 13-9 victory over the Peacocks Saturday afternoon at New Britain Stadium, home of the New Britain Bees.

With the win, the Bobcats improved 24-24 overall on the season and 13-8 in the MAAC, while the Peacocks fell to 8-41 on the 2023 campaign and 4-20 in conference play with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Peter's struck first for six runs over the first two innings before the Bobcats responded with a three-spot in the bottom of the second, courtesy of a two-run blast to right from Braydon Seaburg. Later in the inning, McGwire Tuffy scored on a fielder's choice to cut the Quinnipiac deficit to 6-3.

Trailing 7-3 in the fourth with runners on the corners, Christian Smith served an RBI single to right to trim the deficit to three. Jared Zimbardo immediately followed with an RBI fielder's choice to bring the score to 7-5.

Still down two runs in the sixth, the Bobcats knotted the game at 7-7 after Christian Smith lined a two-run double to leftcenter to score Sean Swenson and McGwire Tuffy. Quinnipiac kept it going, adding two runs in the seventh. After Kyle Maves walked, Keegan O'Connor singled then stole second to put runners on second and third. Later in the inning, Zach Walker threw a wild pitch, allowing Maves to score to give Quinnipiac its first kead of the day. A second wild pitch in the inning allowed O'Connor to score to extend the lead to 9-7.

Leading 9-8 in the eighth, Maves, O'Connor, Seaburg and Swenson came through with four consecutive RBI singles to extend the lead to 13-8.

The lead proved to be too much for Saint Peter's, as the Bobcats held on for the 13-9 victory.
