
Maves Breaks Bobcats' Stolen Bases Record vs. Mountaineers

With the split, the Bobcats moved to 16-23 overall on the season and 9-8 in the MAAC, while the Mountaineers moved to 21-20 on the 2023 campaign and 7-7 in MAAC contests.
GAME ONE: QU 17, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 7
The Bobcats were able to strike first for six runs in the second inning. After Kyle Maves led the inning off with a single, Keegan O'Connor immediately followed with a triple to right to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. McGwire Tuffy followed O'Connor with a double to the same spot to extend the Quinnipiac lead to 2-0. Two batters later Braydon Seaburg powered a two-run homer to right-center to push QU's lead to 4-0. Later in the inning, Jared Zimbardo parked a two-run homer of his own to left to give the Bobcats a 6-0 advantage.
After the Mountaineers trimmed their deficit to 6-3, the Bobcats responded with a run in the fourth as Anthony Donofrio hit a solo homer to right-center to extend the lead to 7-3. The following inning, Zimbardo hit his second homer of the day, a three-run shot to push the lead to 10-3. Later in the fifth, Maves came through with an RBI single to push the lead to 11-3.
The lead proved to be too much for the Mountaineers, as QU held on for the 17-7 victory in game one.
GAME TWO: MOUNT ST. MARY'S 7, QU 6
The Bobcats got off to a fast start in game two, jumping out to a first-inning 2-0 lead off a two-run homer from Sebastian Mueller. Quinnipiac added to its lead in the following inning after Seaburg knocked an RBI double to the fence, followed by an RBI triple from Matt Tesoriero to increase the Bobcat lead to 4-0.
With Quinnipiac leading 5-1 in the sixth, the Mountaineers were able to cut the deficit to three after a solo homer brought the score to 5-2 Quinnipiac. However, Zimbardo delivered on an RBI double in the seventh to move the lead to 6-2.
However, the Mountaineers scored three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to take a 7-6 lead before hanging on for the win.

- Mueller led the offense with a homer and two RBIs in game two
- Seaburg added a double and two RBIs in game two
- Matt Tesoriero contributed an RBI in the second game
