
Bobcats' Offense Shines in 24-10 Victory Over Iona

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 12-18 overall on the season and 6-5 in the MAAC, while the Gaels fell to 6-24 on the 2023 campaign and 2-5 in the MAAC with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac struck first in the first inning after Anthony Donofrio hit a solo homer over the right field fence to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 advantage. Later in the inning, Kyle Maves reached third after a double and an errant throw. The following at-bat, Maves stole home to give Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead.
Quinnipiac's bats stayed hot in the second inning, tallying six runs in the frame. After Sean Swenson and Braydon Seaburg drew back-to-back walks to open the inning, Matt Tesoriero followed with an RBI single to center to push the lead to 3-0. After a sacrifice fly from Donofrio pushed the lead to 4-0, Sebastian Mueller clubbed a three-run homer to dead center, increasing the QU lead to 7-0. Later in the inning, Keegan O'Connor came through with an RBI double to extend the lead to 8-0.
However, Iona responded with four runs of their own in the third to trim the deficit to 8-4.
Leading 9-4 in the fourth, McGwire Tuffy connected on an RBI infield single to push the lead to six. Swenson immediately followed with an RBI single through the left side to increase the lead to 11-4. Later in the inning, Tesoriero reached on a bases-loaded fielder's choice, scoring two runs to bring the score to 13-4.
Leading 13-7 in the sixth with a runner on third, Tesoriero stayed hot at the plate, blasting a two-run homer to left to extend the lead to 15-7. Later in the inning, Donofrio launched a two-run homer of his own out to right, extending the lead to 17-7.
The deficit proved to be too much for the Gaels, as the Bobcats cruised to a 24-10 victory.
