Bobcats Stiffle Dragons, Shutout St. John's in Day Two of Red Storm Classic

QUEENS, N.Y.-- The Quinnipiac softball team stiffled the Drexel Dragons in the first matchup of the second day of the Red Storm Classic in Queens, New York. The Bobcats went down 1-0 in the top of the fifth inning but responded immediately in the bottom half of the frame when Julia Woeste doubled to center field with the bases loaded. Ally Hochstadter, Mac Davis and Bridget Nasir all scored on Woeste's hit. The Bobcats proceeded with their onslaught by shuttting out St. John's, 7-0.

Fifth inning-
- Drexel scored the first run of the game as Garza reached on an error at third base. Demchak doubled to left and Garza advanced to third and a flyout from Abbonizio brought Garza home.
- The Bobcats answered the Dragons opening run a short time later. With the bases loaded on a single from Bridget Nasir and Lala Pascual, who Mac Davis pinch ran for, and Ally Hochstadter's walk, Julia Woeste was up at bat after Vega struck out looking. Woeste pinch hit for Mary Fogg and doubled to center to bring Hochstadter, Davis and Nasir home and the Bobcats up by two.
Game two
Second inning:
- Quinnipiac opened the scoring in the second inning as Sofia Vega singled down the line to left to advance Mac Davis to third base and allowed Bridget Nasir to score, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
- The Bobcats added one more to the board in the second as Vega advanced on the throw to second and Mary Fogg reached on a fielder's choice to give Mac Davis the go ahead look home.
Fifth inning:
- Mary Fogg gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead when she scored, unearned on an error at first base.
Seventh Inning:
- QU sealed the victory in the top of the seventh inning, adding four more runs to the board. Ally Hochstadter pinch ran for Natalia Apatiga and singled up the middle to advance Hilliard to second and bring Mary Fogg home.
- With the score at 4-0 in the Bobcats favor, Amanda Engel doubled to left center and brought Hochstadter and Hilliard across home plate.
- After a pitching change by the Red Storm, Engel advanced to third on a ground out to the short stop by Nasir. Engel eventually crossed home plate on a passed ball and put the Bobcats up 7-0.
