Zhang and Uchida Lead Bobcats Strong Start at Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC. – Quinnipiac women's golf opened play at the Low Country Intercollegiate, as the Bobcats sit tied in fourth place in a field of 19 at the tournament held at the Moss Creek Golf Club Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats saw two golfers sit within the top five, as Fuge Zhang and Aimee Uchida tied for fourth place out of 105 competitors after shooting a 77 (+5).
Quinnipiac sits tied for fourth with Seton Hall after scoring 317 (+29) after the first 18 holes of play. The Bobcats trail Columbia (316; +28) by a single stroke for third place. UNC Asheville leads the field after the first round after shooting 311 (+23), while Elon narrowly trails in second after scoring 312 (+24).
Uchida opened the day on fire, shooting for par on the first three holes before recording a birdie on the fourth. She would end up scoring 36 (E) on the front nine. Zhang closed out the first round strong, shooting a 34 (-2) on the back nine, including a birdie on two of the final three holes.
Leeyen Peralta shot an 81 (+9) to tie for 30th after the first 18 holes. Kaylee Sakoda (T-39th) and Emily Luu (T-79th) rounded out Quinnipiac's grouping at 82 (+10) and 86 (+14), respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, March 18, when they continue play with the second round of the Low Country Intercollegiate.
