LOWELL, Mass. — Powered by a monster, 16-save day from Kat Henselder and hat tricks from Desiree Kleberg and Sophia Iaccino, the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team bounced back from its two-game skid on Wednesday afternoon, knocking off UMass Lowell 13-8 at Cushing Field.
The senior netminder set a season high on Wednesday, stopping 16 of the 24 shots on cage to help the Bobcats' near wire-to-wire victory.
After falling behind 2-1, the Bobcat attacked rattled off four goals in a row, including a pair from Mia Delmond, to give them a 5-2 lead at the 12:15 mark of the second.
The lead would never get closer than two and grew as large as four on multiple occasions before Iaccino's third of the day made it five with 11 seconds left.
Melissa Murphy led the Bobcat defense, recording three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Five different Quinnipiac players had multiple draw controls on the day as the unit bested Lowell 13-11 in that department.
