PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell short in the Snowbird Classic finale against Iowa, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon at Centennial Park.

With the loss the Bobcats fell to 0-3 to open the season, while the Hawkeyes improved to 3-0 on the 2023 campaign with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hawkeyes struck first for two runs in the first inning to jump ahead 2-0, aided by two errors in the frame from the Bobcats. Quinnipiac tried to return the favor in the top of the third, loading the bases with one out in the inning. However, Jared Zimbardo hit into a double-play, allowing Iowa to escape the inning unscathed.

Iowa responded with four runs themselves in the bottom of the third to take a commanding 6-0 lead in the contest. The Hawkeyes plated two more in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-0 before eventually holding on for the 10-0 victory.
