Bobcats Remain Unbeaten at Home With Sweep Over Rider

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball remained unbeaten at home, as the Bobcats defeated Rider in straight sets inside Burt Kahn Gym on Sunday.
Aryanah Diaz led the Bobcats with 12 kills, while Alexandra Tennon totaled 10 kills. Damla Gunes recorded a match-best 31 assists and four service aces in the victory.
With the victory, Quinnipiac improved to 13-6 overall on the season and 9-1 in MAAC play, while Rider fell to 5-13 on the season and 4-6 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-21, Quinnipiac)
QU got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 5-0 lead behind three consecutive service aces from Damla Gunes to force a Rider timeout. The Bobcats didn't take their feet off the gas, eventually pushing the lead to as much as 18-10. However, Rider closed the gap, trimming QU's lead to 23-21 before the Bobcats used a timeout.
Out of the break, QU took the next two points to secure the set victory.
SET TWO (25-17)
The two sides traded points to a 7-7 tie before the Bobcats slowly built a 19-13 lead in the frame. Rider was never able to recover in the set, as the Bobcats cruised to a 25-16 set victory.
SET THREE (25-30)
The two sides traded points to a 15-15 tie in the frame before the Bobcats slowly pushed ahead 19-17. After Rider knotted the set at 20-20, the Bobcats went on a 5-0 run to secure the set and match victory to remain unbeaten at home.
NOTES:
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when QU travels to take on Niagara on the road at 1 p.m.
