Double-Doubles From Gunes Twins Powers Bobcats Past Saint Peter's

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball remained unbeaten at home, as the Bobcats defeated Saint Peter's in straight sets inside Burt Kahn Gym on Saturday.
Yagmur Gunes led the Bobcats with 17 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while her twin Damla Gunes notched 33 assists and 10 digs of her own for a double-double.
With the victory, Quinnipiac improved to 12-6 overall on the season and 8-1 in MAAC play, while Saint Peter's fell to 0-21 on the season and 0-10 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-14, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats got off to a hot start, jumping out to an 8-2 lead behind three service aces from Damla Gunes, forcing a timeout from the Peacocks. Out of the timeout, Saint Peter's responded by cutting the QU lead to 15-10 before the Bobcats called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats swiftly extended their lead to 19-10 before cruising to the 25-14 set win.
SET TWO (25-17)
The Bobcats stayed hot, jumping out to an 11-4 lead before the Peacocks called a timeout. However, out of the timeout, Saint Peter's battled back to trim its deficit to 15-10 in the set. The Bobcats quickly bounced back, extending their lead to 21-13 before taking the set, 25-17.
SET THREE (25-15)
The two sides traded points to an 8-8 tie in the set before Saint Peter's called its first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac was able to build its lead up to 19-12 before the Peacocks burned their final timeout of the match. QU never wavered, cruising to a 25-15 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
