HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University field hockey head coach Becca Main announced the addition of Abby Lucas as an assistant coach to her staff on Tuesday, July 26.
"Excitement is in the air for our most recent hire Abby Lucas. Abby checks all the boxes for what we look for in a coach and also completed a very elite playing background," Main said. "Abby will be in charge of developing our goalkeepers and will utilize the coaching experiences at Franklin Pierce and add them into elevating her job duties on and off the field."
Prior to making her way to Quinnipiac, Lucas spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Franklin Pierce field hockey team. In her two years with the program, Lucas helped lead the Ravens to six wins, including three in an abbreviated campaign in her first season with the team.
Before to her stint at Franklin Pierce, Lucas spent her undergraduate years at UConn as a member of the field hockey program. A member of the Huskies' 2017 national championship team, UConn also made an appearance in the national semifinal during her freshman season. In all, Lucas appeared in nine games during her four years in Storrs, during which she posted a 1.07 goals-against average. She capped her career with a selection to the 2019-20 Big East Conference All-Academic Team.
"We are all honored to welcome Abby to the Bobcat family and to see what grins and wins will come our way with Abby in our program," Main added.
Lucas graduated from UConn in 2019 with her bachelor's degree in communication and earned her master's degree in business administration, with a concentration in sports management from Franklin Pierce this past May.
