HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at home against MAAC-foe Manhattan, starting with Friday's game one contest. First pitch from game one is set for 3 p.m. from the QU Baseball Field.

Last Time Out

QU returns to action after defeating non-conference foe Bryant in extra innings this past Wednesday, 5-4
Jared Zimbardo led the offense with three hits, including the walk-off and an RBI
Chris Mazza (1-0) earned the win after tossing 5.1 innings of scoreless relief
He struck a career-high eight batters in the appearance

Scouting Manhattan

The Jaspers enter the contest at 17-20 on the season and 7-8 in MAAC contests
Manhattan is 10-14 in road contests
The Jaspers are 2-6 in their last eight games

History vs. Manhattan

Friday's contest against Manhattan will mark the 18th contest between the two programs
The Bobcats hold a 13-4 record over the Jaspers, dating back to their first matchup in 2001
The last time the two sides faced off, Quinnipiac came away with a 11-6 victory over Manhattan in Hamden
Brian Moskey led the offense with five RBIs in the win
Andre Marrero and Liam Scafariello contributed two RBIs apiece in the victory

QU baseball head coach John Delaney announced a new team member, signing six-year-old Cameron Wilson through Team IMPACT in a press conference held in the Mount Carmel Campus Rec Center on Feb. 12
He will participate in many activities with the baseball team over the next two years, including games, practices, and other team events

Seeing Ian

Ian Ostberg made his return to the QU lineup on March 22 against Yale and is batting .303 with two homers, eight doubles and 21 RBIs in 20 games
He went 2-for-4 against Hartford on April 12, adding a double, two walks and three RBI's in the walk-off victory over the Hawks
He followed with a solo homer in the opening game of the weekend series vs. Monmouth on April 14
Ostberg went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs in Quinnipiac's win over the Hawks on April 15
He closed the series with a three-hit performance in the series finale, driving in two runs in the process

Call Me Maves

Kyle Maves is batting .279 on the season with 36 hits, 32 runs scored, seven doubles and three triples
He leads the team in runs scored (32), walks (26), steals (17) and triples (3)
Maves is tied for second on the team in hits (36)

Trust in Jared

Jared Zimbardo returned to Hamden for his sophomore campaign and has been lighting it up at the plate
Boasting a .306 batting average, Zimbardo has notched 34 hits on the campaign
In his last 22 games, Zimbardo has tallied 30 hits, including seven doubles and 11 RBIs
Zimbardo tallied three hits and hit a walk-off single to lead the Bobcats past Bryant in extra innings on April 27

Call on Kohn

Michael Kohn has erupted at the plate over his last 19 games
In his last 19 appearances, Kohn has tallied 16 hits, including six homers and 16 RBIs
Kohn homered in three consecutive games played during the stretch
Kohn blasted a three-run homer in Quinnipiac's 8-5 victory over St. John's on March 25
Kohn's six homers on the season are tops on the team

Saint Anthony Donofrio

A transfer from SUNY Cortland, Anthony Donofrio took no time at all to adjust to find his fit in the Bobcats' lineup
Donofrio is batting .291, boasting 34 hits and 23 runs scored on the season as well
In the opening weekend at Saint Joseph's, Donofrio batted .462 with six hits, five RBIs and two stolen bases
In just his second game in a Bobcats' uniform, Donofrio went 4-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored vs. Saint Joseph's on Feb. 19
He followed that performance with two hits and four RBIs in an 18-8 victory over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 20
Donofrio went 4-for-5 against Monmouth on April 16

Handy Danny

Junior Danny Melnick got off to a hot start to open the season
He boasts a .336 batting average on the season
Melnick leads the team in hits (39), doubles (13), homers (6) and RBIs (22)
Over his last 13 games Melnick is batting .488 (20-for-41) with 16 runs scored, seven doubles, two homers and six RBIs
Melnick led the offense in the opening series at Saint Joseph's, batting .600 with six hits, four runs scored and four RBIs in just two games played
Melnick went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 19
He followed that performance with three hits, a homer, three runs scored and four RBIs in an 18-8 victory over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 20
Melnick posted two doubles, two RBIs and five runs scored in a 9-8 win over Hartford in 11 innings on April 12

Gritty Garcia

Junior Brandyn Garcia has assumed the role of ace of the staff this season
Garcia is 4-6 on the season and boasts 64 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched
Garcia has earned a win in four of his last eight starts, with his most recent win coming in a 5-2 victory over Canisius
In the start, Garcia struck out nine and allowed just one earned run in the victory
Prior to that, he earned a win in QU's 8-4 victory over St. John's on March 25
In that contest he tossed six scoreless innings and struck out five en route to his third win of the season
Garcia earned a win in QU's 6-5 victory over George Mason on March 11
He logged seven innings and struck out 10 in the start

Next Time Out

The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, Mayl 3 when QU travels to take on URI
