Bobcats Drop Both Games in Doubleheader at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac softball team dropped both games at Canisius on Saturday, April 2 in the opening weekend for conference play. The Golden Griffs shutout the Bobcats in game one, winning 10-0 and took the second game, 5-1.
Kayla Thomas led the team with her fifth home run of the season. The Bobcats move to 5-16 on the season and 0-2 in the MAAC.
Game One Recap:
The game remained tied, 0-0, until the bottom of the fourth inning. Canisius gained a 4-0 lead in the fourth and they did not look back. The Golden Griffs extended its lead to 5-0 in the fifth and 10-0 in sixth inning, which would seal the shutout win.
Notable Stats:
The Golden Griffs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Kayla Thomas hit a homer to cut the lead to two runs in the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, Canisius gained a 5-1 lead and held on to win the second game of the doubleheader.
