Henselder Stops 12 in Back-and-Forth Battle

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior goalkeeper Kat Henselder made 12 saves including two in overtime, but Quinnipiac women's lacrosse dropped a thrilling MAAC contest, 10-9, to Canisius on Saturday afternoon. Neither team scored two consecutive goals until Canisius struck twice to open the fourth quarter.

GAME SUMMARY

The teams traded three goals apiece in the first quarter with Quinnipiac leading 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 before Canisius tied the game with 1:50 to play in the quarter.
Emily Feeney, Sydney Skalstad, and Kalie Moore each scored in the period for the Bobcats.
Both sides would continue to alternate tallies all the way through the third quarter, as the Bobcats took a 7-6 advantage to the game's final frame.
Sophia Iaccino, Feeney and Skalstad each scored in the second quarter, while Skalstad's hat trick goal was Quinnipiac's only score of a 1-1 third.
After Canisius took the lead to start the fourth quarter, it was Quinnipiac who evened the score on a free-position goal by Skalstad with 11:43 to go in regulation.
Skylar MacArthur put Canisius back in front before Iaccino knotted the game at 9-9 with 5:43 to play.
Neither team was able to break through for the remainder of regulation and the game remained tied through over seven minutes of overtime before Caroline Netti scored the game winner with 38 seconds on the clock.
