Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup with the San Diego State Aztecs, 13-7, on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Sydney Skalstad led the way with two goals on five shots. Junior goalkeeper Kat Henselder made 16 saves for the Bobcats in the loss.

Sophomore midfielder Kalie Moore tallied her first goal of the year. In total, six Bobcats found the back of the net in the loss to the Aztecs.

GAME SUMMARY

Gabby Beckett opened the scoring for the Bobcats tallying a goal just 3:04 into the game.
The Aztecs roared back with four goals of their own to take the game over with a 4-1 lead.
Sydney Skalstad put an end to the Aztec attack and scored to make it a 4-2 game with 1:50 to go in the first quarter.
San Diego State entered the second quarter with a two goal lead, 4-2.
Ellagrace Delmond brought in the second quarter with her lone goal of the game with three minutes into the quarter.
Just 36 seconds later, Sydney Skalstad fired one into the back of the net to bring the game even at four.
With 9:56 left in the first half, Brook Waddell capitalized on the man advantage to regain the lead, 5-4.
Quinnipiac entered the locker room at halftime trailing, 5-4.
San Diego State opened up the third quarter, and the second half, just 11 seconds in from a goal by Bailey Brown.
The Aztecs tallied two more goals and had a four goal lead, 8-4, with nine minutes to play in the third quarter.
Sophia Iaccino put another halt into the Aztec offense with her lone tally of the game with 7:35 to play in the quarter. The Bobcats were still trailing, 8-5.
San Diego State's Mia Kohn responded right back to extend the lead back to four, 9-5.
Kalie Moore answered right back to bring the game within three. The Bobcats were trailing 9-6 with 1:51 left in the quarter.
Brook Waddell scored her second goal of the game 42 seconds later to extend the lead to four, again.
Quinnipiac headed into the final 15 minutes trailing the Aztecs 10-6.
The Aztecs scored two goals to open the final frame to give them their largest lead of the day, six.
Maddie Deegan put an end to the Aztec rally when she tallied a goal with 7:46 to play to bring the Bobcats within five.
Aztec Deanna Balsama scored on the man advantage with 5:09 to play to put the game away.
The Bobcats fell in this non-conference matchup, 13-7.

NOTES

The Bobcats were outshot by the Aztecs, 42-33.
Both teams were very efficient clearing their defensive zones as Quinnipiac went 18-22 on clears and San Diego State went 16-17.
The Bobcats caused 15 Aztec turnovers.
The Bobcats controlled 11 draws.
