Quinnipiac Downs Niagara in Hamden to Capture 2022 MAAC Title

Quinnipiac Women's Soccer Headed to First NCAA Tournament Since 2000
HAMDEN, Conn. – For the first time since the 2000 season, Quinnipiac University Women's Soccer is headed to the NCAA Tournament.
The top-seeded Bobcats completed a historic run through MAAC play on Sunday afternoon in Hamden, defeating third-seeded Niagara by the final score of 4-0 in the league title match.
QU scored its first-half goal via a Niagara own goal.
Rebecca Cooke found the back of the net in the 59th minute of play, Courtney Chochol added a score of her own in the 67th minute, and then Cooke scored again in the 79th minute of play to help clinch the win.
Quinnipiac wins its first-ever MAAC Tournament title with the victory.

- (16'—Quinnipiac 1, Niagara 0) - Courtney Chocol's cross was blocked the Niagara defender but snuck past the Purple Eagles' keeper and into the net to start the scoring.
- (58'—Quinnipiac 2, Niagara 0) - Rebecca Cooke tallied her 21st goal of the season when she was able to beat Niagara netminder Agnes Stenlund after burying her own rebound just to the right of Stenlund in the box.
- (66'—Quinnipiac 3, Niagara 0) - Chochol notched her sixth of the season when Stenlund tried to clear the ball out of the box but blasted it off Chocol's legs and it rolled into the net to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
- (78'—Quinnipiac 4, Niagara 0) - Cooke secured the Bobcats' title as she split the defenders and buried one behind Stenlund in the box.
NOTES
- The Bobcats are headed to their first NCAA Tournament since 2000.
- This is the first MAAC conference championship title for the Bobcats since joining the league in 2013.
- Rebecca Cooke has a total of 22 goals on the season and 51 points on the year. Both marks are tops in the country.
- Both marks are good for tops in Quinnipiac's Division I history and second all-time for the program.
- Courtney Chochol tallied her sixth of the season and recorded five shots on goal against the Purple Eagles.
- QU outshot Niagara 13-3 and had 5 corners to Niagara's three.
- Sofia Lopinoso made three saves through 82 minutes and Kaelen Fabry saw just over seven minutes of action.
