Cooke, Phillips Tabbed with MAAC Weekly Award Honors

EDISON, N.J. - Sophomore Rebecca Cooke and junior Meaghan Phillips were named the MAAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Aug. 30. These are the first weekly award honors for Cooke and Phillips this season after just two games played.
The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Rebecca Cooke, had a stellar start to her sophomore campaign. She netted two goals in the Bobcats' season opening 3-0 win over Lafayette on Aug. 25. On Aug. 29, Cooke added her third goal of the season along with an assist on the game-winning goal in Quinnipiac's 4-0 rout over Yale. Her seven points this season are ranked first in the MAAC (3.5 points/game).
Phillips recorded two back-to-back shutouts in the Bobcats' opening matches of the 2021 season. She needed to make just two saves against Lafayette in the team's 3-0 victory and tallied five against the Bulldogs. Phillips' and the team's 4-0 shutout win against Yale was the program's first shutout against an Ivy League opponent.
This is Cooke's third MAAC Weekly award honor of her career and first for Phillips.
Quinnipiac will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at home against UAlbany. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
