HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team dropped both games at home against the Siena Saints. The visitors took the first game, 10-4. The second game turned into a tight battle between both teams, but the Saints came out on top, 5-3.

Highlights Game 1 (L, 4-10):
First Inning – The Bobcats took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first after the Saints scored once in the opening at-bat. With senior Kayla Jensen on first base, senior Brighid Douglas hit a single down the left field line. First-year Kayla Thomas hit a 2-RBI single to send Douglas and Jensen home.

Second Inning – Quinnipiac added one run in the second inning. First-year Gianna Palmisano was walked and later advanced to second off a single by sophomore Katherine Rodriguez. First-year Karolyn Walker reached on a fielder's choice as Palmisano scored.

Fifth Inning – The Bobcats looked to cut down the Saints' lead and scored one more run in the fifth. Thomas walked, and sophomore Cy Gonzalez hit a single to center. Palmisano hit an RBI-single up the middle, allowing Thomas to score.

The Saints would lead the rest of the game and earn the 10-4 victory.

Notable Stats:

Gonzalez went 2-4 at the plate.
Thomas went 1-3 with one run and two RBIs.
The Saints' pitching staff of Nicole Patille, Allison Speshyock and Taylor Rhinehart recorded seven strikeouts.

Highlights Game 2 (L, 3-5):
Third Inning - The Bobcats got on the board and took the lead in the third inning. Jensen started the inning with a single. With Rodriguez on first and Jensen on second, Thomas hit an RBI-double up the middle, and Jensen scored. Palmisano hit a double of her own, and both Rodriguez and Thomas scored, giving Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead.

Siena would later score three runs in the fifth inning to take back the lead. The Saints would hold on to win the second game of the day, 5-3.

Notable Stats:

Thomas was solid at the plate and on the day, going 2-3 with one RBI on one double. She added one RBIs to her season total and now has 28 on the season.
Palmisano went 2-3 with two RBIs and one double.
Woeste pitched seven innings with two strikeouts.
