HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis is set to host Siena on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts in Hamden.
The Bobcats will honor their seniors (Patrich Cachapero, Austin Yannone, Hielke Moore) ahead of the match.

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis is set to host Siena on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts in Hamden.
The Bobcats will honor their seniors (Patrich Cachapero, Austin Yannone, Hielke Moore) ahead of the match.
Last Time Out: Win vs. Fordham
- Quinnipiac men's tennis played to a 4-3 victory over Fordham on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts in non-conference action.
- With the win, the Bobcats are now 4-1-1. Quinnipiac hasn't lost since March 10, going undefeated over its last four matches.
- Alester Magalit/Bryan Schick kicked off the day by earning a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. They're now 3-0 as a duo in doubles play this spring.
- Patrick Cachapero/Shaurya Sood then won 6-3 at the No. 2 doubles position, clinching the point for the Bobcats.
- Aleksa Martinovic won Quinnipiac's first singles matchup, defeating Makatsaria 7-5, 6-1 from the No. 3 spot. Martinovic has three victories in singles matches, as today marks his first win from the No. 3 position.
- Alester Magalit won in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) in the No. 1 singles spot. He's got a team-best four singles wins so far in spring 2021.
- Shaurya Sood won the match clincher at No. 5 singles, battling to a 6-2, 7-6 victory. The win is his second singles victory of the year, and first from the No. 5 spot.
- Quinnipiac men's tennis won its second MAAC match of the year on Saturday at the Outdoor Tennis facility in Hamden, downing Rider by the final score of 7-0.
- Quinnipiac won all six singles matches, and all three doubles matches in the victory. The Bobcats are 3-1 for the spring 2021 campaign.
- Alester Magalit earned a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles, battling to a 10-8 third-set victory to pick up the point. Magalit is now 4-0 in singles matches this season.
- Hielke Moore earned his third singles victory of the campaign, winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 2 slot.
- Ayato Arakaki is now 4-0 this year from the No. 3 singles position, as he defeated Rider's Lenz (6-0, 6-4).
- Patrick Cachapero also has four singles victories now, as he won both the second and third set 6-3 to battle back at the No. 4 spot.
- Aleksa Martinovic won (6-0, 6-1) at No. 5, improving to 2-1 in singles action.
- Austin Yannone also picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory, earning his win from the No. 6 position. Yannone is 4-0 in singles play this year.
- Aleksa Martinovic and Austin Yannone are now 4-0 as a tandem this season, as they won 7-6 in No. 1 doubles.
- Kemal Karagozoglu and Shaurya Sood won their second doubles matchup of spring 2021, earning a 6-3 victory.
- Alester Magalit and Bryan Schick won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles – their second win as a duo.
- Senior Hielke Moore was named MAAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
- Moore won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles during the Bobcats' MAAC opener at Niagara.
- The QU senior defeated Manuel Alonso 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3) in the No. 1 singles slot, then also teamed up with Patrick Cachapero to earn a 6-3 win over Alonso/Jorge Sedeno in No. 1 doubles.
- Quinnipiac men's tennis earned an impressive 7-0 victory to begin MAAC play on Friday, March 13.
- Hielke Moore earned a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, downing Niagara's Alonso 7-6 (7-3) in the final set.
- Alester Magalit picked up his second victory of the year at No. 2 singles, downing Sedeno 6-3, 6-2.
- Ayato Arakaki also won his second singles match of the spring season, recording a three-set victory at No. 3.
- Patrick Cachapero moves to 2-1 at No. 4 singles this year, winning in straight sets to pick up the point for the Bobcats.
- Kemal Karagozoglu earned his first singles win at Quinnipiac – picking up the point in straight sets 6-5, 6-0.
- Austin Yannone won his second singles match in three contests to begin the new season, taking his No. 6 singles battle in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
- Patrick Cachapero and Hielke Moore won their first doubles match of the season, winning 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.
- The duo of Austin Yannone/Aleksa Martinovic picked up their second victory of the season in doubles.
- The Bobcats dropped a non-conference match vs. St. John's at the USTA National Tennis Center on March 10 by the final score of 4-0.
- St. John's Opacic defeated Hielke Moore in straight sets at No. 1 singles, Patrick Cachapero fell vs. James in No. 4 singles, and De Camelis defeated Shaurya Sood in No. 6 singles.
- In No. 1 doubles action, the duo of Garcia/De Camelis defeated Patrick Cachapero/Hielke Moore 6-3
- Michel/James then topped Shaurya Sood/Kemal Karagozoglu 6-2 to finish off the doubles point.
- Kemal Karagozoglu was locked in to a 6-6 first-set battle at No. 5 singles before the match was clinched by St. John's.
- The Bobcats earned a 4-3 win in North Haven on March 7 to begin the spring season.
- The Bobcats picked up four points in singles play to earn the win. Alester Magalit clinched the victory with a three-set win at No. 2 singles.
- 2018-19 MAAC Rookie of the Year Alester Magalit won 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in No. 2 singles, earning his 30th career singles win.
- Ayato Arakaki earned a decisive 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles, his first win as a Quinnipiac student-athlete.
- Patrick Cachapero won in three sets, taking the No. 4 singles point. The graduate student had six singles wins in 2019-20.
- Austin Yannone won in straight sets at No. 6 singles. He had six singles wins last year.
- Aleksa Martinovic and Austin Yannone earned a win at No. 2 doubles, their second win as a duo in as many years.
- Quinnipiac enters the spring 2021 season guided by its two returning graduate students (Patrick Cachapero, Austin Yannone) and one senior (Hielke Moore).
- Junior Alester Magalit won a team-high 11 singles matches last season. He earned three MAAC Player of the Week honors last year.
- Junior Aleksa Martinovic also returns for the Bobcats in 2021. He had six singles wins and seven doubles wins last year – and spent his offseason in Serbia readying for the season.
- Junior Bryan Schick (eight doubles wins in '20-21) and Clark Davis (two doubles wins in '20-21) also return for the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats have four newcomers: Ayato Arakaki (Saitama, Japan), Kemal Karagozoglu (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), Shaurya Sood(Amritsar, India) and graduate student Beekman Schaeffer (Homestead, Fla.).
- Quinnipiac men's tennis has been selected No. 2 in the 2021 MAAC Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
- The Bobcats earned 38 total points in the poll – finishing just behind Monmouth for the top spot. Quinnipiac earned one first-place vote, while Monmouth garnered the other six selections for the top spot.
- Men's Tennis Head Coach Chris Pappas helped lead the Bobcats to the 2019 MAAC Tournament championship match two years ago. Quinnipiac went 4-2 in MAAC play that season, then earned a 4-1 win over Marist in the MAAC Semifinals.
- Last year (2019-20), Quinnipiac defeated Holy Cross on Oct. 5. The remainder of the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Bobcats have earned 60 total wins in six-plus under Pappas. The two-time MAAC Coach of the Year selection has led the program to a 28-8 MAAC record (2014-15 – current).
