Bobcats to Host the Gaels for Two on Wednesday

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team is set to host the Iona Gaels on Wednesday, April 14 for a mid-week doubleheader. The Bobcats are coming off a 2-2 weekend at Niagara, and the Gaels will come to Hamden after a 1-2 weekend against Canisius.

Last Time Out
Quinnipiac went 2-2 against the Niagara Purple Eagles last weekend for the team's best overall weekend record this season. First-year Kayla Thomas went 5-12 (.416) with three runs, one home run and nine RBIs to lead the Bobcats. First-year Tori McGraw earned her first win in the circle in the Bobcats' second win on Sunday.
Scouting Iona
The Gaels are 9-6 on the season after a 1-2 weekend against Canisius. Jessica Chilcott leads the team with a .367 average, 14 runs, 18 hits, five doubles, and 15 RBIs. She has also recorded seven home runs, which leads the conference this season. In the circle, Kara Zazzaro is 8-1 with a 4.20 ERA and leads the MAAC with 92 strikeouts this season.
Bobcats' Stats
Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez leads the team with a .345 batting average, 19 hits, 10 runs, four doubles and 10 RBIs. Her 10 RBIs rank in the top-ten in the MAAC, and her 19 hits rank second in the conference. Thomas' 17 RBIs leads the MAAC. First-year Cy Gonzalez has had a solid last couple of games, hitting .313 with three runs, five hits and three RBIs, including a run in the Bobcats' 6-5 win on Sunday. First-year Karolyn Walker is stepping up and has recorded three hits, two runs and six RBIs in the last four games.

The Bobcats added a four-game series this weekend at Saint Peter's on April 17-18 in Jersey City.
