Jimmy Hagen Pitches 6.1 Scoreless Innings in Game Two Win
Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) extended his hitting streak to 11 games as he went 2-for-3 in game one, but the streak was broken as he went hitless in the second game.
Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) had a strong day at the plate as he went 1-for-3 in game one. He recorded two RBI's and worked a walk in the doubleheader opener. In the second game, Kohn went 3-for-5 including a ninth inning homer. In total, he had one RBI and came across to score twice in the Bobcats victory. His three hits is a new career high.
Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) also recorded three hits in the second game for the Bobcats. The graduate student had a home run and drove home four runs to lead Quinnipiac offensively.
Coming in in relief, Jimmy Hagen (Westfield, Massachusetts) was phenomenal for the Bobcats in their game two win. The sophomore pitched 6.1 innings of scoreless ball, picking up the first win of his career and only giving up five hits, walking one and striking out three.
The Bobcats trailed, 5-2 after three innings in the second game but got one run in the fourth and plated four in the sixth to take the lead, 7-5. Kohn's ninth inning home run gave the Bobcats an insurance run in the ninth.
In game one, the Bobcats tied the game at five after scoring three runs in the top of the third. The Broncs answered back with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning, and then Quinnipiac tied it up again with one run in the top of the fourth. After that Rider scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take the win in the first game.
