Bobcats Tabbed No. 2 in Preseason Poll

Tomas Svecula Named to Preseason All-MAAC Squad
EDISON, N.J. – Quinnipiac men's soccer has been tabbed No. 2 in the 2020-21 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The Bobcats received 111 total points in the coaches' poll – just one point behind Saint Peter's for the top spot. Quinnipiac earned five first-place votes, while Saint Peter's garnered six.
Sophomore Tomas Svecula has also been selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team. The 2019 MAAC Rookie of the Year played in all 18 games for the Bobcats in the fall of 2019, scoring six goals to go along with four assists. His 16 total points ranked second on the team.
Svecula scored four of his six goals during MAAC play in 2019, becoming the second player in program history to win MAAC Rookie of the Year (Eamon Whelan, 2016).
Head Coach Eric Da Costa and the Bobcats announced their 2021 spring schedule on Jan. 21. The Bobcats' schedule features seven total games, starting on March 11 at home against MAAC foe Manhattan. Quinnipiac will also play league opponents Fairfield, Niagara, Siena, Saint Peter's, Rider and Iona.

Da Costa has led the Bobcats to a postseason conference tournament appearance in eight straight seasons (2012 in the NEC, 2013-19 in the MAAC). Since joining the MAAC prior to the 2013 season, Quinnipiac has appeared in three MAAC Tournament title contests (2013, 2016, 2018), and has posted an impressive 44-15-11 mark in regular season MAAC games.
