A Late 7-1 Run Comes Up Just Short
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team dropped their season opener at Bryant 14-12. Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey finished the game with 11 saves and senior midfielder Victoria Bobinski picked up four ground balls.
Two Bobcats recorded hat tricks in the loss with first year Desiree Kleberg and sophomore Gabby Beckett each netting three goals apiece.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior attack Megan Szawlowski netted the Bobcats first goal of 2020 to give them a 1-0 lead. This is the second straight season Szawlowski scored the first goal of the season for the Bobcats.
- Senior goalie Allie Kelsey made nine of her 11 saves in the first half.
- First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg netted two first half goals. She added another in the second half to finish her first career game with a hat trick.
- The Bobcats went on a 3-0 run late in the first half to cut the Bryant lead to 7-5.
- The Bobcats had four different goal scorers in the first half. Kleberg (2), Szawlowski, Maddie Deegan and Sophie Spencer.
- After Bryant scored the first five goals of the second half, the Bobcats answered with a 3-0 run to cut the Bulldog lead to 13-8.
- Quinnipiac outscored Bryant 7-1 in the final 15 minutes of the 2nd half.
- Beckett recorded her second career hat trick on Wednesday afternoon.
- Bryant outshot the Bobcats 34-32 in the game, and 25-23 in shots on goal.
- The Bobcats converted five of 14 on their free position opportunities.
- The Bobcats picked up 23 ground balls with Victoria Bobinski (4) and Brianna Fitzgerald (3) leading the way.
- Bryant won the draw control battle, 17-11.
- The Bobcats caused five turnovers with senior defender Haley Everding recording two.

- The Bobcats travel to Staten Island for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Wagner. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
