Scafariello Hits Two Home Runs in 15-11 Game Two Victory, Eight Bobcats Record Hits
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) blasted two home runs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader as the Quinnipiac baseball team picked up 15-11 win after falling in the first game of the doubleheader, 3-0.
Scafariello's two-home run game was his third multi-home run game of the season as he also led the Bobcats with three runs scored and five RBIs in the game. Scafariello also singled in the first game of the doubleheader to cap off his three-hit day.
After recording just four hits in game one, the Bobcats bounced back to pound out 17 hits in game two as eight of Quinnipiac's nine batters recorded at least two hits each. Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) led the Bobcats with four hits in Saturday's doubleheader, including a 3 for 6 performance in game two with a double, RBI and run scored.
The Bobcats scored 12 runs over the first five innings in game two and held on the for the win as the offense scored its second-most runs in a single game this season. Quinnipiac has also scored double digit runs in 10 games this season.

SECOND INNING
- Bender led off the inning with a double down the left field line and after Vulgamore reached on an error, Cruz sacrificed both runners into scoring position.
- Bender then scored on a passed ball before Huscher walked to put runners on the corners
- Lutz followed with a singled to right field to score Vulgamore to make it 2-1 before Scafariello drilled a three-run home run on an 0-2 count to make it 5-1 Bobcats.
- After the Stags pulled within two runs in the bottom of the second, the Bobcats added three more in the top of the third inning.
- Ostberg led off the third with a single to left center and moved up to second on a Bender walk
- With one out in the inning, Cruz singled to right field to score Ostberg and moved up to second to put two runners in scoring position.
- Bender scored on a Huscher groundout before Cruz scored on a wild pitch that gave the Bobcats a five-run lead
- The Bobcats scored two runs after three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 10-6 lead after four innings.
- Scafariello led off with a four-pitch walk and moved up to third on a double to left field from Marrero
- Ostberg singled to left field to score Scafariello easily before Bender brought home Marrero with a sacrifice fly
- After back-to-back strikeouts to start the inning, Lutz reached on an infield single before Scafariello blasted his second home run of the game to left field to double up the Stags, 12-6.
- Quinnipiac extended the lead to eight in the inning as Cruz led off with a double down the left field line and moved up to third on a bloop single from Huscher.
- With one out in the inning, Cruz came home to score on a balk and Huscher moved up to second.
- Moskey followed with an RBI single to left with two outs in the inning to score Huscher
- After Moskey stole second, he scored on an RBI single from Marrero to make it 15-7 Bobcats.
