BUFFALO, NY – Quinnipiac men's lacrosse dropped its first MAAC contest of the 2019 season on Saturday, falling at Canisius by the final score of 10-7.

Freshman Will Abbott led the Bobcats on offense, scoring three times on eight shots. Quinnipiac scored five of the game's last six goals, as the comeback attempt fell just short on the road.

HIGHLIGHTS

Canisius led 7-2 at halftime, though the Bobcats outshot the Golden Griffins 21-20 in that span.
Quinnipiac would come roaring back, though, as QU scored five straight times in the second half to cut the deficit to just two scores.
Total shots were even at 40, while Canisius outshot Quinnipiac 23-14 in attempts on goal.
The Bobcats were 13-of-17 in clears, and picked up 27 ground balls in the loss.
Face-offs were even 10-10, as Tyler Liotta went 9-for-15 in the face-off X.
Nick DiMuccio was impressive in front of the cage again for the Bobcats, making 13 more stops.

NOTES

With three more goals on Saturday, freshman Will Abbott now has 14 goals and 11 helpers for 25 total points – which ranks second on the team.
Sophomore Jake Tomsik added one goal and one assist for two points, giving him a team-best 20 goals this season.
Mike Fletcher, Matt Frost and Tyler Mackay all chipped in with one goal.
