Five Bobcats Finish with 3+ Points in MAAC Win
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Graduate student goalkeeper Sami Walters made 11 saves and earned her fifth victory of the season as the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team earned a 17-14 win at Iona on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Megan Szawlowski and freshman Maddie Deegan combined for seven points, eight ground balls, six draw controls, and six caused turnovers in the win.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The teams traded each of the first six goals of the game with Deegan, Shannon Savage, and Kayla Moreau each scoring for the Bobcats.
- Iona's Christine Gironda scored with 22:06 left in the first half to give the Gaels their first lead of the day, but Brianna Fitzgerald tied the game 35 seconds later.
- After Iona took its final lead of the afternoon at 5-4, the Bobcats scored four of the next five goals, including two from Allison Kuhn, to take an 8-6 lead into the final 10 minutes of the first half.
- The Gaels scored twice in the last 3:30 of the half to send the teams into the locker room tied at 8-8.
- Both teams scored in the first minute of the second frame, before the Bobcats went on their first big run with three straight goals over a two-minute span.
- Iona erased the 12-9 Quinnipiac lead with three goals of its own, tying the game at 12 with 16:34 remaining in regulation.
- Kuhn's third goal of the game with 15:24 on the clock sparked a 5-2 Bobcats run to close out the game. Deegan, Szawlowski, and Victoria Bobinski all scored in that stretch, which was capped by Kuhn's fourth of the day.
- The Bobcats were outshot by the Gaels, 38-29 in total, including an 26-24 advantage in the shots on goal.
- Quinnipiac completed nine of its 11 clear attempts in the contest, while holding the Gaels to 13-of-19.
- Tanya Kotowicz' squad dominated the draw control battle, winning 21 of the 33 draws in the game.
- This is the second Quinnipiac win over Iona in the last three seasons and matches the team's overall win total from last season (five wins).
- Kuhn recorded four goals and added an assist, while picking up three ground balls and causing two turnovers.
- Szawlowski and Moreau both tallied four points total in the effort. Szawlowski also picked up a game-high five ground balls, won three draw controls, and caused a pair of turnovers. Moreau added three ground balls to her day as well.
- Moreau, Fitzgerald, Bobinski, Deegan, and Shannon Savage all scored two goals apiece.
- Walters recorded the fifth victory of her Quinnipiac career, improving to 5-3 on the season.
- The Bobcats return home to Hamden on Saturday, April 6 where they will host the Niagara Purple Eagles in what will be Senior Day at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium.
