Softball Earns Second Straight MAAC Sweep against Saint Peter's

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team defeated the Saint Peter's Peacocks and earned its second MAAC sweep in three days. The Bobcats won the first game 3-1, and came back to win the second game 5-4 in walk-off fashion in the tenth inning.
Senior Kendall Brundrett led the Bobcats in both games pitching 11.2 innings and recording 11 strikeouts. Junior Megan Dyson was up to bat in the bottom of the tenth inning with the bases loaded and got hit by a pitch to give the Bobcats the walk-off win.
Game 1 Highlights
Second Inning – After letting up three runs in the first inning, the Bobcats began the comeback in the second inning with two runs. Freshman Lo Yarnall advanced to first base after being walked. Dyson came up to hit a single to left field. With Yarnall at second and Dyson at first, senior Taylor Troyan hit a single center to send Yarnall home and recorded an RBI. Sophomore Kayla Jensen then hit a single of her own and sent Dyson home to score.
Third Inning– The Bobcats tied the game, 3-3, with a single from Yarnall and run from senior Erin Larsen.
Quinnipiac took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning, but Saint Peter's came back to tie the game 4-4 in the top of the sixth. Neither team was able to score, so the game went into extra innings, until the bottom of the 10th. Dyson was up to bat and got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing freshman Alexis Otero to score the walk-off run from third base.
Highlights
The doubleheader against Yale scheduled for Wednesday, April 3 will now be played at 3 and 5 p.m., at Yale.

- The Bobcats got on the board in the third inning with two runs to take a 2-0 lead. They would secure the win after scoring a third run in the fifth inning and would not need to hit in the seventh.
- Junior Rachel Marchuk went 1-2 with a homerun in the fifth inning and had two runs in the win.
- Freshman Danielle Sorenson went 1-2 and had one run in the win.
- Brundrett pitched all seven innings and had seven strikeouts. She captured her second MAAC win with the 5-4 victory and moves to 4-11 on the season.

- Freshman Lauren King came into the game in the second inning and pitched 4.1 as a reliver. She allowed just two hits and one run with two strikeouts.
- Brundrett came into the game in the sixth inning and pitched until the game was over (4.2 innings) and allowed zero runs and four hits. She recorded two wins on the day and improves to 4-11 on the season.
- Yarnall went 1-3 with one run and one RBI.
- Dyson also went 1-3 with the game-winning RBI.
