
Tomsik Ties Program Record for Goals, Bobcats Top NJIT in Non-Conference Play

NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore attack Jake Tomsik tied a program record with eight goals, powering Quinnipiac men's lacrosse past NJIT, 16-14, on the road on Saturday afternoon in Newark.
With the win, the Bobcats improve to 1-3 on the season.
Tomsik now has a team-best 14 goals in four games so far this season. His eight goals on Saturday matches the Bobcats' single-game high, set by Erik Anderson vs. Siena on April 10, 1999.

- Tomsik scored three times in the first quarter, once in the second, two times in the third and two times in the fourth quarter of play. He more than doubled his season goal total, entering action with six scores.
- Freshman Will Abbott continued his hot start with two more scores and one assist for three points, giving him six goals and seven assists for 13 points.
- Tyler MacKay scored twice to go along with one helper, Tyler DeVito chipped in with one goal and two helpers, and Matt Miller added three assists.
- Freshman goaltender Nick DiMucci added 11 more saves, earning his first collegiate win.
- Total shots were 48-41 in favor of NJIT. 26 of QU's 41 shots were on goal.
- The Bobcats went 18-21 in clears, and won 17 of 32 faceoffs.
- After scoring 44 points in 2018 as a freshman, Jake Tomsik already has 17 points in 2019 over just four contests.
- Nick DiMuccio now has 61 saves over four games. He entered play ranking No. 3 nationally in saves per contest.
- Quinnipiac returns to action next Saturday, March 9, traveling to Wagner in non-conference play.
