
Women's Hockey to Take on Clarkson in ECAC Quarterfinals

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's hockey team will travel back to the North Country for the second weekend in a row to take on #5 Clarkson in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. The best-of-three series will begin on Friday, March 1 at 3 p.m.
Quinnipiac and Clarkson are the only two teams in the ECAC to finish in the top half in the standings 10 seasons in a row.
Scouting #5 Clarkson
The Golden Knights will host the Bobcats after going 1-0-1 last weekend. The Golden Knights defeated Princeton and tied the Bobcats, 1-1, in the regular season finale.
Sophomore Elizabeth Giguère leads the Golden Knights with 63 points (23g, 40a) on the season. Five of Clarkson's players have recorded 20 points or more this season. Kassidy Sauvé leads Clarkson in the net playing 30 games, with a .932 save percentage and 1.78 goals against average.
All-Time Against the Golden Knights
The Bobcats hold an 11-23-5 record against the Golden Knights. Quinnipiac currently stands with the best overall record at Clarkson compared to any team in the NCAA over the last five seasons. The Bobcats are 3-1-1 against the Golden Knights when playing at Cheel Arena in the last five seasons.
Playoff History vs Clarkson
The Bobcats are the only team to win a playoff series as the visiting team against Clarkson when playing in Potsdam. In 2012, the Bobcats defeated the Golden Knights in three games at Cheel Arena to go on to the semifinals.
Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac finished the regular season with two ties against St. Lawrence and #5 Clarkson.
Against the Saints, junior Abbie Ives had 34 saves, which was the most since Dec. 1 when she had 35 against Princeton. Senior Randi Marcon and junior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout scored in the tie.
At Cheel Arena, the Bobcats tied the #5 Golden Knights, 1-1. Marcon scored the game-tying goal in the third period on a Quinnipiac power play. The Bobcats let in three goals on the weekend against the Saints and the Golden Knights, which is the least amount of goals let in by any ECAC team this season when playing in the North Country.

Quinnipiac has gone 47-54 (87.0%) on the penalty kill through 22 ECAC games, which ranks third overall in the conference. The Bobcats are ranked 11th in penalty minutes, averaging only 4.9 PIMs per game. Against St. Lawrence and Clarkson, Quinnipiac only tallied four penalty minutes.
Seniors on Fire
Senior Kenzie Lancaster has recorded 21 assists for the Bobcats to lead the team and is ranked fourh in the conference in assist scoring. Her 21 assists this season are a career high.
Senior Randi Marcon has recorded at least one point in eight straight games. Marcon has already surpassed her point totals from last season with 11 goals and five assists for 16 points in 2018-19.
Samoskevich recorded her 100th career point against Sacred Heart after scoring her 50th goal. She is the sixth women's hockey player to score 100 caeer points. The senior is now ranked third on the all-time individual goals record list (53) and fourth on the all-time individual assist list (54).
ECAC Playoffs Schedule
The Bobcats finished sixth overall in the ECAC Standings and will play the third seeded Golden Knights in Potsdam, N.Y. The puck drop for the first game is set for Friday, March 1 at 3 p.m. The series will be a best-of-three game setup. Quinnipiac and Clarkson are the only two teams in the ECAC to finish in the top half in the standings every season over the last 10 years.
