Bobcats Swept Despite Strong Starting Performance by Correira Against Elon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) went 5 for 8 and hit his first home run of the season in Quinnipiac baseball's doubleheader Sunday afternoon as the Bobcats fell to #20 Wake Forest, 15-5, and Elon, 11-1.

Marrero's performance was among the best for the Bobcats on the afternoon while freshman Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) was 3 for 4 in game two of the doubleheader.

Starting pitcher Arthur Correira (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) turned in the Bobcats second solid pitching performance of the weekend as he struck out five over five innings in his first start of the season.

Quinnipiac's offense recorded 19 hits in the pair of games, including 12 hits against Wake Forest in the second game of their weekend series.

Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and advanced to second on wild
Brain Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) followed a up with a single to center to put runners on the corners
After a wild pitch allowed Moskey to advance to second, Samuel LaChance (Dover, New Hampshire) drove in both Moskey and Vulgamore with a single down the right field line

Appearing in his first collegiate game, Giani Arici (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch
After Maves walked, Vulgamore ripped a two RBI double down the third base line that scored Arici and Maves
A wild pitch moved Vulgamore up to third base before Marrero singled to right field to score Vulgamore
