Men's Basketball Holds on Late, Earning Road Win in 2018-19 MAAC Opener

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Tyrese Williams and Travis Atson both made 3-point field goals in the final two minutes of action, leading Quinnipiac men's basketball past Manhattan by the final score of 63-59 on Thursday night at Draddy Gymnasium.
With the win in the 2018-19 MAAC opener, the Bobcats move to 6-6 (1-0 MAAC) so far in 2018.
Manhattan tied the game 56-56 with 3:58 left, then Quinnipiac outscored the Jaspers 7-3 over the final 1:54. Williams nailed a 3-pointer with 1:54 left to give the Bobcats a 59-56 advantage, then Atson drilled a 3-pointer of his own with just 29 seconds left to put Quinnipiac up by six.

- The win is Quinnipiac's first victory at Manhattan since Jan. 26, 2014.
- The Bobcats shot 20-for-46 (43.5%) from the floor in total, knocking down 12 3-point attempts.
- With 12 more made shots from distance tonight, Quinnipiac has now made 10+ 3-point field goals in five straight games. The Bobcats have knocked down double-digit totals from distance in eight contests this year.
- Cameron Young led the way with 15 points, recording his 11th game with double-digit point totals so far this season. The graduate student's 15 points came on 4-of-10 shooting, going 3-for-8 from 3-point range. Young has scored 10+ points in all but one game this year for QU.
- Travis Atson recorded 13 points, three rebounds and three assists – shooting 3-of-7 from the field. He has now scored 10+ points in eight of 12 games this season for Quinnipiac.
- Jacob Rigoni added 11 points, three rebounds and two assists, draining three more 3-point field goals. The sophomore is now 24-for-61 from 3-point range, leading the team with a 39.3% clip from distance.
- Rich Kelly stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds and four helpers. Kelly went 4-for-6 from the field, and is now averaging a team-high 4.6 assists per contest.
- Manhattan out-rebounded Quinnipiac 35-26.
- The Bobcats forced 17 turnovers, the second-highest total of miscues forced so far this year.
- Cameron Young now has 839 career points, just 161 away from 1,000.
- Abdulai Bundu has 598 career points, needing two more to reach 600.
- Travis Atson surpassed 100 points for the season. He now has 103 points in 2018-19.
- Rich Kelly has 187 career assists, just 13 away from 200.
- The Bobcats have just one day off, then return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Rider in MAAC play.
