HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team continues BIG EAST play this weekend with a Friday afternoon matchup against the Georgetown Hoyas before hitting the road for another non-conference game against the UMass Lowell River Hawks at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Last Tmie Out
The Bobcats bounced back from a loss at No. 2 UConn to rout the Brown Bears, 6-1, at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium for the first home win of the season. Five different Bobcats recorded goals, led by Makayla Adams' (Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania) two-goal performance.
Scouting Georgetown
The Hoyas come into Friday's game with a 6-1 record on the season but lost their only conference game to Villanova, 5-2, to open BIG EAST play. Georgetown outscored opponents 19-4 in non-conference play so far but could not keep up the trend in conference play. Cami Osbourne leads the team with five goals and 11 points while five different players have scored multiple goals. Ciara Weets has been solid in goal for the Hoyas with a .775 save percentage and 1.35 GAA in her seven starts.
Scouting UMass Lowell
The River Hawks open up America East play on Friday before taking on the Bobcats but come into the weekend with a 4-2 mark on the season. UMass Lowell has played a challenging schedule, with one of their two losses coming against then-No. 8 Louisville, a 2-1 loss. The River Hawks have scored three or more goals in all four wins this season.
Mak Attack
Freshman Makayla Adams had a game to remember as she buried two goals and added an assist for five points in the 6-1 win over Brown. She was the first freshman Bobcat with multiple goals in a game since Danielle Allan had a hat trick against Sacred Heart on Oct. 28, 2011. Adams was the first Bobcat this season with multiple goals in a game.
Majority Whip
Brooke Whipkey (Charlotte, North Carolina) notched her first career goal and added an assist for a multiple-point game against the Bears. Whipkey now has four points on the season after picking up her first assist vs. Maine.
In Blum
Amanda Blum (Langhorne, Pennsylvania) also recorded her first career goal for the Bobcats against the Bears on Sunday. Blum had played in 36 career games before notching her first tally.
Anna's At It Again
Senior Anna Walmsley (Glasgow, Scotland) buried her second goal of the season, her second straight two-goal season, Sunday against the Bears. Walmsley scored her first goal of the season at Columbia before netting her first goal at home.
Just a Wink
Elisa van Winkel (Heeze, Netherlands) continues to impress as she tallied her third goal in the past five games and notched her first assist of the season to give her seven points.
Teicher's Pet
Hannah Teicher (Bethesda, Maryland) has improved between the pipes and taken hold of the starting goalkeeper job for the Bobcats. After a career-high eight saves at UConn on Saturday, Teicher picked up her third win of the season with a. four-save effort against Brown.
