First-Year Duo Leads Bobcats to Season-Opening Win over Bryant

HAMDEN, Conn. – First-years Julia Lutz and Evelyn Henderson each recorded their first collegiate goals and multi-point performances in a 2-1 victory over Bryant on Friday afternoon.
Bryant opened the scoring with 2:05 remaining in the first quarter on an unassisted goal from Maddy DeFilippo.
The Bobcats responded quickly in the second half, scoring twice in the third quarter.
Just over two minutes in, Lutz netted the equalizer off a feed from Henderson to even the score at 1-1.
Henderson gave QU its first lead of the afternoon a few minutes later, converting on a penalty corner for her first collegiate goal.
The goal stood as the game-winner as the Bobcats held Bryant scoreless over the final 24 minutes.
First-year goalkeeper Meike van Schoot earned the win in her collegiate debut, making three saves in goal.

The Bobcats remain at home on Sunday, Aug. 30, welcoming Vermont to Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium for a noon matchup.
