Elisa Ruiz Martinez, Elisa van Winkel Score in First BIG EAST Win of 2018
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Field Hockey team took home its first win in BIG EAST play of 2018 with a victory of the Georgetown Hoyas, 2-1.
Elisa Ruiz Martinez (Madrid, Spain) buried her first goal of the season while Elisa van Winkel (Heeze, Netherlands) buried her fourth goal of the season.

- (17:13 – Quinnipiac 0, Georgetown 1): The Hoyas opened the scoring when Lindsay Getz stole the ball and moved into the half circle. Getz then made a move on Hannah Teicher (Bethesda, Maryland) to strike for her fourth goal of the season.
- (23:04 – Quinnipiac 1, Georgetown 1): Ruiz Martinez scored on the Bobcats' first penalty corner of the game, less than six minutes after the Hoyas got on the board. Ruiz Martinez scored on the loose ball in front of the cage while Marisa Larkin (Saratoga Springs, New York) picked up her first helper of the year.

- Ruiz Martinez's goal in the first half was her first goal of her senior campaign. The Preseason All-BIG EAST selection had two goals in 2017 as a junior, including a goal in Big-East play.
- Larkin's assist on Ruiz Martinez's goal was her first assist of 2018 and the second assist of her career. She has three points after a goal at Columbia
- van Winkel's goal was the freshman's fourth goal of 2018 and pushed her points total to nine, tied for first on the team in both categories
- van Winkel has goals in back-to-back games and four of her last six
- Ines Ruiz Martinez (Madrid, Spain) made a critical defensive save with 7:38 to go in the second half to preserve the Bobcats' 2-1 lead. The defensive save was her third of the season and seventh of the career
- Hannah Teicher (Bethesda, Maryland) notched her first career BIG EAST win and fourth overall after making four saves against the Hoyas

The Bobcats hit the road on Sunday to kick off a stretch of three consecutive road games. Quinnipiac travels to UMass Lowell for a 2 p.m. showdown on Sunday before two consecutive BIG EAST road games at No. 19 Liberty on Sept. 28 and at Villanova on Oct. 5. The Bobcats' next home game is set for Friday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. against Providence.
