Bobcats Drop Non-Conference Matchup to Vermont

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team fell to Vermont 3-0 in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon in Hamden.
The Catamounts opened the scoring with just four seconds remaining in the first quarter, converting on a penalty corner, before adding a second goal late in the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Vermont extended their lead early in the fourth quarter, adding a third goal to secure the victory.
First-year goalkeeper Meike van Schoot recorded a career-high seven saves for the Bobcats, including four in the opening quarter. Ava Bleier registered Quinnipiac's lone shot on goal.
STATS & NOTES:
The Bobcats hit the road for a pair of non-conference contests, beginning with a trip to Bucknell on Sept. 4 for a 5 p.m. matchup. Quinnipiac will then travel to Brown on Sept. 6 for a noon start.
