LAST RESULTS (FLORIDA TRIP)
Quinnipiac had a hard-luck trip to Florida last week at the IMG Tennis Academy in Bradenton, dropping a pair of 4-3 decisions to UConn and Colgate before ending the trip with a 6-1 loss to Butler. The UConn match saw the Bobcats hold a 3-1 lead before the Huskies won all three singles matches that went to three sets to come back for the win. Senior Julian Rozenstein had wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Against Colgate, freshman Hielke Moore won a three-setter at No. 6 singles to tie the score at 3-3, but the Raiders were able to earn the last point. Moore was also a bright spot for the Bobcats against Butler, winning at No. 5 singles in three sets and at No. 3 doubles (along with senior Kyle Alper).
MOORE NAMED MAAC PLAYER OF WEEK
Freshman Hielke Moore was named the MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday following his performance at the IMG Academy. Moore was 4-2 on the week over three matches, including a singles-doubles sweep against Butler to provide Quinnipiac with its lone point. Moore also had a three-set win in singles against Colgate to tie the match 3-3, and picked up a doubles win against Connecticut.
ROZENSTEIN STARTS STRONG
Julian Rozenstein started his senior campaign in September with a win the Flight "A" singles bracket at the UConn Invitational. Rozenstein, who went over 100 career victories a a junior last season, has been playing at No. 1 singles and doubles all season, and currently leads the Bobcats in singles wins (12), doubles wins (11) and total wins (23).
NO ADJUSTMENT NEEDED
Freshman Hielke Moore started his collegiate career with a four-win weekend at the UConn Invitational as he captured the Flight "C" Singles championship 6-0, 6-4. He now has 10 singles wins on the year (10-7) and ranks first on the Bobcats in overall winning percentage at 18-11 (10-7 singles, 8-4 doubles).
EARLY BATTLE FOR FIRST
It's very early in the season, but Quinnipiac's home match with Niagara will give one of the team's a leg up in the conference standings as both teams come into the weekend 1-0 in the MAAC. It's crowded at the top, though, as Fairfield and Marist are also 1-0 in the MAAC so far, while defending champion Monmouth has yet to play its first conference match.
LAST YEAR vs. NIAGARA
Quinnipiac went on the road a year ago and scored a 7-0 win at Niagara, which improved its record to 3-0 in conference play. Current Bobcats Julian Rozenstein, Freddie Zaretsky, Axel Stern and Kyle Alper each earned multiple victories in both singles and doubles, along with graduated senior Kei Ezaka.
LAST TIME vs. FORDHAM
The Bobcats have not faced Fordham in a dual match since the 2014-15 season, when they earned a 7-0 win over the Rams in Hamden, Current senior Kyle Alper was the only current Bobcat who played in that match, picking up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.
