QU Men's Tennis Moves to 2-0 in MAAC with 6-1 Win over Niagara

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac men's tennis team fought off a tough battle from Niagara early in singles to come away with a 6-1 win over the Purple Eagles on Saturday afternoon at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club, improving to 2-0 in the MAAC.

NOTES:

The first half of singles from No. 1-3 featured three competitive matches (4-6 had to wait for courts until 1-3 were done).
Senior Julian Rozenstein and sophomore Patrick Cachapero were able to take three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively to give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead.
Rozenstein outlasted Taylan Ozdemir at No. 1 singles after dropping the first set, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4
Cachapero controlled the third set at No. 3, taking it 6-2 from Brent Boleslav, after the players split the first two sets.
The second half of singles saw the Bobcats dominate on all three courts, with sophomore Axel Stern getting the clincher at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Sophomore Austin Yannone finished his match quickly at No. 5, winning 6-3, 6-0
Freshman Hielke Moore finished off the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6.
Rozenstein, Stern and Yannone all earned singles-double sweeps on the day.
Rozenstein and junior Freddie Zaretsky earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, providing the clincher for the doubles point.
Stern and Yannone were the first to finish with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
