CLEARWATER, Fla. - Senior Casey Herzog threw a complete-game shutout, striking out six and walking none, as the Quinnipiac softball team defeated Army 2-0 in its first of two games at the University of South Florida's Michelle Smith Tournament at the EC Moore Sports Complex in Clearwater. Tennessee-Chattanooga defeated the Bobcats in the second game 10-1.

Senior pitcher Casey Herzog went the distance in the opener, allowing seven hits to get the shutout, while striking out six and not allowing a walk.
Herzog escaped a mini-jam in the fifth when Army loaded the bases with three two-out singles, but she was able to get the third out on a fly ball to Erin Larsen in right field.
After the leadoff runner in the bottom of the seventh got on base, Herzog helped her own cause by turning a double play on a popped up bunt, before ending the game with a flyout.
Junior catcher Lexi Courtney (pictiured) had an RBI double in the fifth inning to stretch the lead to 2-0.
Sophomore left fielder Megan Dyson was 2-for-3 and scored the first Bobcat run on an error.
Larsen reached base to lead off the bottom of the first in the nightcap and came around to score on an RBI single from Keala Cordeiro to cut the Tennessee-Chattanooga lead to 2-1, but the Moccasins were able to break it open and enforce the eight-run rule with a 10-1 win.
Freshman Brighid Douglas had two hits for the Bobcats, including a double.
