GAME NOTES
- Senior midfielder Brian Feldman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) had one goal to give him 99 in his career, leaving him one shy of becoming the fourth player in school history to score 100 career goals.
- Vermont led 3-0 after the first quarter, which saw the Bobcats hit the post twice and saw Catamount goalkeeper Nick Washuta make a point-black save in the final seconds of the stanza to preserve the shutout after 15 minutes.
- Quinnipiac finally broke into the scoring column at the 8:28 mark of the second quarter when freshman Jake Tomsik (Medway, Mass.) scored his first goal of the game, and seventh of the season. He later added a second goal in the fourth quarter (making the score 9-5) to start out his collegiate career with three straight multi-goal games.
- The Bobcats got three of their goals on extra-man opportunities, with junior attack Foster Cuomo (Oshawa, Ontario) netting one in the second quarter, Feldman notching one in the third, and junior midfielder Matt Frost (Spring Lake, N.J.) netting one in the fourth.
- Sophomore Joe Zukauskas (Southington, Conn.) made his first start in goal this season and had 12 saves, six of which came in the third quarter to keep the Bobcats close. He committed a penalty in the closing seconds and freshman Brendan Engel (West Islip, N.Y.) came on in relief to make a save in his first collegiate appearance.
- The Bobcats were playing the No. 17 ranked team for the second week in a row, after knocking off No. 17 Brown 12-11 in overtime last Saturday. The loss knocked the Bears out of the polls, and Vermont jumped in to the No. 17 slot.
- Senior Will Vitelli (Milford, Conn.) was 9-17 on face-offs after going 19-27 in the win over Brown last week. He won six of those nine face-offs cleanly to lead the team in ground balls.
- Senior Mike Ruane (Huntington, N.Y.) led the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- Washuta finished with 15 saves for the Catamounts while allowing only five goals (three on EMOs). The Bobcats finished with a narrow 35-34 edge in shots.
