ABILENE, Texas - The Quinnipiac baseball team was defeated by Abilene Christian 11-2 on Crutcher Scott Field on Sunday afternoon. This game was the last of the three game set with the Wildcats.
NOTES
The Bobcats will continue their 17 game road trip to begin the season next Friday as they travel to Williamsburg, Virginia to start a three game series with The College of William & Mary. First pitch for the first game is slated for 4:00 PM on Friday, February 23.
NOTES
- Quinnipiac scored first when sophomore Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) singled home classmate Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) in the top of the first.
- Marrero reached base with his second leadoff double of the series and was pushed over to third base by a Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) single.
- After ACU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Bobcats would tie the game the next half inning.
- Freshman Frank Cascio (Hillsdale, New Jersey) smacked a two-out double to score senior Julius Saporito (Manalapan, New Jersey), who reached on an error.
- Saporito and freshman Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) each had a hit.
- Junior Tyler Poulin (Randolph, New Jersey) got the start for Quinnipiac. He went for four innings, allowing 6 runs (1 earned) on five hits and four walks. He also had four strikeouts.
- Senior Wyatt Hamilton (Falmouth, Massachusetts) pitched the next two innings in relief. He gave up one run on three hits and had a pair of strikeouts.
- Sophomore Nick Paasch (Tolland, Connecticut), junior Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, New York), and freshman Joe Preciado (Ivyland, Pennsylvania) combined to pitch the 7th inning.
- Senior Mike Davis (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) saw his first work of 2018. He pitched a clean 8th inning, allowing only a leadoff walk.
