GAME NOTES
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac will transition back into ECAC Hockey play after two games against UConn and Providence. The Bobcats will play a home-and-home series against #10 Princeton - Puck drop on Friday, Nov. 30 is set for 6 p.m. at the Hobey Baker Rink. Quinnipiac will return for its last home game of 2018 on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.
Scouting the Tigers
Princeton stands at 5-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in ECAC play. The Tigers have not lost in eight games going 5-0-3. The 10th-ranked team in the country is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend where they defeated Colgate, 6-0, on Nov. 16 and tied Cornell, 2-2.
Carly Bullock leads the Tigers with 16 points on nine goals and seven assists. In the Princeton net, sophomore Rachel McQuigge has played in eight games recording a 3-2-3 record. She has a .933 save percentage and 1.94 GAA.
All-Time Against Princeton
Quinnipiac holds a 15-15-4 record against Princeton. During the 2017-18 season, the Bobcats split the home-and-home series with the Tigers. After losing 3-0 on the road, Quinnipiac came back to Hamden to beat Princeton, 3-1, on Dec. 9. Kenzie Lancaster, Taylor Hosue and Brooke Bonsteel scored in the win.
ECAC Leaderboard
Princeton holds the top spot in the ECAC standing with 10 points. Cornell and St. Lawrence follow with nine points and eight points, respectively. Colgate and Quinnipiac are next with seven points each.
Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinninpiac competed in the Nutmeg Classic after the Thanksgiving holiday starting on Friday, Nov. 23 against UConn. The Bobcats defeated the Huskies, 3-2, after Melissa Samoskevich netted two goals and Abbie Ives recorded a season-high 39 saves. Laura Lundblad also recorded her first goal of the season in the win.
In the championship game, Quinnipiac fell in a close battle with #9 Providence, 2-1. Kate MacKenzie scored for the Bobcats, but Providence's Hayley Lunny netted two goals to give the Friars the win.
Ives in the Net
Junior Abbie Ives has recorded three shutouts on the season against Brown, Yale and Harvard. She recorded a season-high 39 saves in the 3-2 win against UConn. She is ranked seventh in the ECAC with a .937 save percentage.
Bobcats on the PK
Quinnipiac has gone 17-17 on the penalty kill through six ECAC games, which ranks first in the conference. Against Cornell and Colgate, Quinnipiac's special teams only allowed four total shots through eight penalty minutes.
Freshmen Stepping Up
The Quinnipiac freshmen have made an immediate impact for the team on the season thus far. Lexie Adzija leads the freshmen with six points on three goals and three assists. On defense, Zoe Boyd has added five helpers on the season.
Samo Returns from Saskatchewan
Senior captain Melissa Samoskevich was named to the U.S. Women's National Team Roster for the 2018 Four Nations Cup. Samoskevich scored in the U.S.'s win against Sweden and Canada. The U.S. won all four games, including the championship game against Canada. This was the four consecutive time the U.S. has won the Four Nations Cup.
Samoskevich was also named to USA Hockey's Women's Winter Training Camp Roster, as announced by USA Hockey on Nov. 28. She will report to Plymouth, Mich., on Dec. 16 and the camp will run from Dec. 17-21.
