Quinnipiac baseball will play its final regular-season Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series on May 18-19 when it hosts Fairfield for a three-game set on May 18-19 at the QU Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a record of 10-11 in MAAC play, while Fairfield sits in first place at 15-6.
The Playoff Picture
What we know: Fairfield, Canisius, Marist and Iona are in. Seven of the remaining eight teams in the MAAC remain in contention for the final two spots in the MAAC Championship Tournament, to be played on May 24-28 at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls, New York.
How it looks right now: Two games separate 5th place Niagara and 11th place Manhattan, and all but Rider have three games to play. The top four teams play the next four (Niagara, Siena, Quinnipiac and Monmouth) that have games remaining (excluding Rider).
What could happen: As many as six teams can end up tied by the end of the weekend.
What will happen: There will be games played, and someone will have to crunch those numbers. As it stands, the current leader board could produce approximately four pages of possible scenarios which could come into play.
What you should do: Check QuinnipiacBobcats.com or @TheQBaseball and @MAACSports on Twitter on Friday afternoon for the announcement.
