Defending the Crown
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team looks to defend their back-to-back-to-back MAAC Tournament championships this weekend at the 2017 MAAC Tournament down in West Windsor, New Jersey. The Bobcats will face the No. 4 seed Fairfield, with the winner facing the winner of No. 2 seed Siena and No. 3 seed Marist.
HISTORY VS FAIRFIELD
The Bobcats are 10-0 all-time against Fairfield and defeated them in sweeping fashion, 7-0 earlier this season. Quinnipiac was dominant on the court against Fairfield, sweeping the Stags while not dropping a single set in the duel. Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida), Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California), Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) and Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) all won multiple matches on the day.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield finished the regular season with a 5-16 record, while going 4-3 in MAAC play which secured the Stags the No. 4 seed. Fairfield struggled down the stretch, going 3-7 in its last 10 duels.

The Bobcats own a 80-28 (.741) record in doubles play this season. The duo of Horton and Young leads the team in wins with 24. However, the team of Rodriguez and Rencheli sit in second with 12 wins.

MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quinnipiac women's tennis senior Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) was named the MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday, April 26.
This is the third time this season that Rencheli has received the award and fourth time of her career. Rencheli is the third Quinnipiac women's tennis player to be honored with a weekly award this season, as Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won the award earlier this season as well.
Sitilia Rencheli went an impressive 6-0 over the past week, all against MAAC competition. Rencheli won all of her singles matches in sweeping fashion this week, starting with defeating Sarah Stuhlmann of Fairfield in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2. She followed with a sweep over Monmouth's Adriana Armendariz, 6-1 and 6-1 in straight sets. Rencheli closed the week with a convincing sweep of Marist's Ariel Shulman, 6-1 and 6-0.
Rencheli went a perfect 2-0 with doubles partner Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and 1-0 with Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) as well. The Bobcats duo defeated Emily Lombardi and Karen McKeough of Fairfield, 6-4. Rencheli and Lohaphaisan then defeated Chioma Gabriel and Alexandra Graff of Monmouth, 6-0. Rencheli and Oliphant closed the week with a convincing 6-4 win over Callie Morlock Kauffman and Claire Schmitz.

When Rencheli has teamed with freshman Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) the duo has combined to win 12 games on the season, which is second on the team. NEW PARTNERS, SAME RESULTS
Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Rencheli have been dominant as a duo since the late season pairing, winning their first nine matches together, holding an impressive 9-0 record. All nine of the duo's wins have been in the No. 2 doubles spot.
Lu and Rodriguez remain unbeaten as a duo as well, as the two own a 9-0 record together this season, with eight wins coming from the No. 3 doubles spot.
40 WINS CLUB
As the team heads into the MAAC Tournament, Young leads the team in overall wins with 42, while Rodriguez sits in second with 41 wins and Horton is in third with 40 wins.
Young has posted 40 wins in a single season twice in her career before this season, with her previous career-high being 41 in her freshman year.
Rodriguez is the first freshman since Lohaphaisan to win at least 40 matches during their freshman campaign. Lohaphaisan finished with 44 wins after the 2015-16 season.
Horton's 40 wins this season, marks the second time in her career that she has achieved the feat, as she did so last season, winning a career-high 47 matches.
