BACK TO WORK
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team is back in action, as the Bobcats host the Wesleyan University Cardinals at the North Haven Racquet Club Saturday, March 25, at 6 p.m.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Wesleyan owns a 3-1 record and have won their last three contests. The Cardinals have earned wins over the Redlands, Case Western Reserve and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time Quinnipiac took the court, the Bobcats took home a 6-1 victory over former NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson at the North Haven Health & Racquet Club on Wednesday. Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey), Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey), Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) and Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) all earned two victories on the day.
The Bobcats got off to an electrifying start and never took their foot off the gas, as Quinnipiac took the first six points of the match to secure the victory.
KEI COUNTER
Ezaka comes into the matchup with 132 career wins which is second all-time on the program's wins list. Ezaka is five wins away from tying John Hughes '10 program-record of 137 wins.
MAAC MANIA
In the Bobcats' three MAAC dual matches, they have gone 27-0 in competition. The team has posted a 18-0 record in singles play against MAAC opponents and 9-0 in doubles competition.
ALL GOOD FROM SPOT ONE
The Bobcats have had major success from the No. 1 spot in doubles matches, going 7-3 in those matches.
RACE TO 10
Ezaka and Rozenstein lead the Bobcats with 11 singles wins each and Axel Stern (Tustin, California) has 10 wins but Quinnipiac has four players that are four or less singles wins away from 10 on the season. Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) has eight wins, while Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California) and Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) has eight wins and Jackson Koke (Calgary, Alberta) has six.
LUCKY NO. 2
No matter if it is a singles or doubles match, Rozenstein is undefeated (3-0) in matches where he is competing in the No. 2 draw.
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Stern has had the same success, because in matches where he is in the No. 3 draw, he is undefeated (3-0) as well.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Following the match against Wesleyan, the Bobcats will be back in action on Thursday, March 30, when the team hosts Sacred Heart at 3 p.m. at the QU Tennis Courts
