QU Baseball Senior Matthew Batten Wins MAAC Player of the Week

HAMDEN, Connecticut - Quinnipiac baseball shortstop Matthew Batten (Shelton, CT) has been named MAAC Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Batten tallied seven hits over three games this past weekend at VMI.
The senior went 7-for-13 in total, scoring four runs and driving in three more. He's now hitting a team-best .333 (17-for-51) so far this season, recording two doubles, one triple and a home run. Batten went 1-for-5 on March 10, 3-for-5 on March 11, and 3-for-3 on March 12.
Batten is the second Bobcat to win MAAC Player of the Week so far this season. Sophomore transfer Liam Scafariello (Southington, CT) won the award on March 21 after belting five home runs in Quinnipiac's first four games of the 2017 season.
Quinnipiac baseball is back in action today, Tuesday (March 14, 2017), traveling to Gardner-Webb University for a 5 p.m. contest. The Bobcats then head to North Carolina A&T State University on Wednesday (March 15, 2017) for a 4 p.m. game.
