QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Falls To Oregon, 284-274

HAMDEN, Connecticut – Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling lost to Oregon, 284.265-274.945, in a National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association meet at TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Connecticut. Quinnipiac drops to 0-2 overall while Oregon improves to 2-0 for the year.
Prior to the start of the event, Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling honored the late Manny Bonilla, who passed recently after a long battle with cancer. Bonilla was an assistant coach for head coach Mary Ann Powers' squad for the last six seasons. After a moment of silence in respect to Bonilla, a short video was played to commemorate his contributres to Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling.
Oregon won two of the first three events of the first half – the Compulsory and Acro events – by a combined .25 points. Quinnipiac stormed back to take the Pyramid event with a score of 29.35-28.90 and headed into halftime leading 97.15-96.85.
Coming out of the break, the two teams tied in the Toss event, 29.20-29.20, before Oregon won the Tumbling event, 57.275-55-625, and the Team event, 100.94-92.97.

Quinnipiac returns to action when they travel to Philippi, West Virginia to take on Alderson Broaddus in a NCATA and ECAC meet on Mar. 16 at 6 p.m. After a meet at King University in Bristol, Tennessee on Mar. 18, the Bobcats return home to host Glenville State on Sunday, Mar. 25 at 12 p.m.

- Quinnipiac junior Jenna Adams (Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey) led Quinnipiac to wins in six of the nine heats that she competed in.
- Senior captain Noelle Brasier (Simi Valley, California) competed in 10 heats and led the Bobcats to wins in six of those.
- Kelsey Rule (Kendall Park, New Jersey) also competed in Quinnipiac's top three highest-scoring heats of which the Bobcats were 2-0-1.
- Jenna Capristo (Wolcott, Connecticut) combined with Rule to win the Tumbling Duo heat and also competed in five other heat victories for the Bobcats for the afternoon.
Compulsory Event
- Oregon jumped out to a minimal lead through the Compulsory event, 38.90-38.85.
- Quinnipiac took two of the four heats in the Compulsory event with wins in the Pyramid (9.95-9.90) and the Tumbling (9.40-9.30) heats.
- Jenna Adams, Samantha Gormley, Jenna Capristo, Noelle Brasier, Allee Tallman, Brianna Gerndt and Alyssa O'Connor competed in both heats to lead the Bobcats through the first event.
Acro Event
- Oregon took a 67.950-67.800 lead after winning the Acro Event (29.05-28.95) with two of the three heats.
- Quinnipiac took the 5 Element heat (9.70-9.45) to start the Acro event, featuring Adams, Brasier, Alexandra Williams and Melanie Mancini.
Pyramid Event
- Quinnipiac came-from-behind to grab two-of-the-three heats in the Pyramid event and tied the third. The Bobcats and Ducks tied in the Inversion Heat (9.75-9.75) before the Bobcats took the Synchronized (9.85-9.75) and Open (9.75-9.40) heats.
- Adams once-again featured into both heat victories, while Capristo, Tallman and Abby Ziser also competed in both heats.
Toss Event
- Quinnipiac and Oregon tied in the Toss Event, 29.20-29.20
- O'Connor, Gormley, Williams, Adams, Gormley, Williams, Jordan Sack and Grace Manthey took the 2 Element heat.
- O'Connor, Gormley, Adams, Williams, Sack, Tallman, Brasier, Capristo, Manthey, Kelsey Rule and Siobhan Robinson tied Oregon, 9.65-9.65, in the Synchronized heat
Tumbling Event
- Oregon captured the six-heat Tumbling event, 57-275-55.625.
- Rule and Capristo opened the Event with a 9.45-9.20 win in the Duo Heat.
- Capristo was incredible in the Aerial heat and was just edged out by a score of 9.53-9.48
- Rule capped off the event with a 9.85, Quinnipiac's second-highest score of the meet, in the Open heat, but it resulted in a tie with Oregon's Krista Phillips.
Team Event
- Oregon closed the meet with a 100.94-92.97 win in the Team Event.
